About the CAA
Mission Statement
The Coptic Assembly of America (CAA) is dedicated to promoting equality, unity, human rights and democracy in Egypt for all citizens and to protecting the unique cultural identity of Egypt's Coptic Christians. CAA uses education, training, communication and advocacy campaigns to unify and galvanize Copts, while building coalitions with like-minded organizations to provide an effective, unified voice on behalf of Copts in America.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CAA will identify Coptic communities within the United States and work with their leaders and members to form a cohesive national organization. This group will work to bring the concerns of Copts to the attention of politicians and lawmakers in the United States with the goal of effecting lasting change for Coptic Christians in Egypt.
These efforts will focus on three central activities: Building Capacity in the Coptic Diaspora; Creating and Managing Coalitions of Interested Organizations; and Meeting with Decision Makers in Washington, D.C. and at the United Nations.
To build capacity in the American Coptic community, CAA will establish a network of interested Copts across the country, training groups and individuals on common advocacy tools and recruiting leaders from the community that will serve as community organizers.
At the same time that community leaders will be trained in advocacy and organized across the country, CAA will work with various organizations in Washington, D.C. and in New York to build coalitions around issues central to the well being of the Copts in Egypt. This will provide a voice to speak about Coptic concerns without the burden falling solely on the Copts.
Working with the Leadership Council for Human Rights, CAA will meet with decision makers in Washington and New York to help achieve measurable results for the Copts in Egypt.
