FM meets Welch in New York

New York Sept. 22 (BNA) Foreign Affairs Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa , Head of Bahrain's delegation to the 61st UN General Assembly session, met with US Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs David Welch at the delegation's premises in New York today .
They discussed bilateral relations in addition to the situation in the Middle East in light of yesterday's UN Security Council's meeting. Shaikh Khalid affirmed in a statement he gave following the meeting that he found the US clearly committed to the peace process and Middle East issues. Meanwhile, Welch expressed his country's appreciation of Bahrain's efforts regarding the peace process in the region, quoting the speech delivered by Shaikh Khalid at the UN Security Council last night which, he said, clarified the Arab League's point of view on the peace process. The meeting was attended by Bahrain's Permanent Representative at the UN Tawfeeq Al Mansour, Bahrain's Ambassador to the US Nasser Al Bulooshi and members of the Bahraini delegation.
