I think the article is blaming Muslims for the Coptic inward isolation, not just the Church.
Christians in Egypt have been forced to get isolated as means of self-protection, a means of survival, I believe.. I'm not saying isolation is the best way, but Copts don't really know how they can be safe in that unfriendly Muslim community
