afanous is on a distinguished road
Ok, here is the deal:
Creating 12 Coptic parties will only divide Copts more than they already are.
We need one Coptic group led by one person who can be responsible in front of the world and who can speak with our voice. This is the normal trend; all countries have one leader not many.
The other problem is that 10 or 12 million Copts cannot really make any difference in terms of electing a Copt into the parliment (assuming ya3ni that Egypt would suddenly become a real democracy). This is because Copts are a minority everywhere; there is not one single area in Egypt where we are a majority.
Therefore, we need a secular leadership that starts having strong ties with moderate and respectful Muslims. We should encourage them to nominate themselves for the parliment and we should support them and vote for them. This is a much more realistic approach and this is why we need an international Coptic leadership to organize such moves.
Keep thinking and writing;
Andrew!
