Kissing tourists stabbed in Cairo
A pair of Hungarian tourists in Egypt have been stabbed after kissing in a public market near a historic mosque.

Police said a man attacked the two with a knife as they paused at Cairo's famed Khan al-Khalili bazaar.

The attacker - who was described by police as "mentally unstable" and "depressed" - was apparently enraged by their public show of intimacy.

The victims sustained minor injuries and were treated at a local hospital. The attacker was arrested.

He has been named as Hisham Mohammed Abdul Hamid.

The Khan al-Khalili bazaar is a popular tourist attraction, offering souvenirs and local craft items.

Tourism is Egypt's main source of foreign currency income but over the years the industry has suffered from repeated
attacks by Islamic militants on foreign visitors at tourist sites.
