When I read about Pope Shenudah's comments on Mubarek I became completely sickened. He has bowed to the oppressor at best. Jesus came to set the captives free. Pope Shenudah has become the epitome of dhimmification
. So who is the greater sinner: the one who commits the crime (Mubarek) or the one who placates it by silently allowing it to continue (the Pope)? The Pope is not infallible. He can sin too
When the Laskar jihad tried to overtake the Christians in Indonesia, these Christians stood strong. They also let the world know what was happening to them. And yes, though the first group who were attacked did suffer, there was international intervention and the Laskar Jihad was stopped. But that is because both clergy and Christians spoke out against what was happening to them. The world had Sudan as an example of what radical jihadists can do, so they knew the Laskar jihad would try to wipe the Christians out as threatened.
Remaining silent in the case of Christian persecution in Egypt is as bad as perpetrating the crime itself. Pope Shenouda is not exonerated because of his position
