A MESSAGE TO ALL ANTI-WAR DEMONSTRATORS

I’m against the war in all its forms; it is always destructive. I lived in a war zone, and know exactly what war means. However, if you can’t stop an evil deceiving dictator and his regime from obtaining such weapons of mass destruction that he has already used against his own people, war is the only answer. Remember that without WWII, dictators like Hitler, Mussolini and Emperor Hirohito would have been ruling the world now. Look at Germany, Italy and Japan today and compare for yourself.

You might be thinking that if Saddam died a natural death or resigned; everything would be all right, but I believe that the problem is the regime itself and the way power is transferred. As North Korean former dictator Kim IL Song made his son into another little dictator that became more dangerous than his father, Saddam would do the same for his sons Oday and Qusay thus creating a dynasty for himself. Same as the late Hafez Assad did in Syria, and soon with Libya and Yemen (hopefully not in Egypt too). For your information, all these countries are republics and not kingdoms.

WHY REGIMES CHANGE?

A war for regime change, even with some expected destructive results, is better for the Iraqi people and for the whole world in order to end this ongoing conflict since 1991. Which is better for a sick man? To give him doses of Analgesic everyday or to find out the root cause of his pain first then from there you know what measures to take.

However, I believe that a war and its principal effect of regime change should only be performed by well-established democratic systems like the USA and Britain. And if you are not able to determine what a democratic system is, please let me help you ….

A democratic system is where you can find a former president or a prime minister that is still alive and live in peace in his country among his people and had left his position when his term ended with no military coup d’état or a people revolution against him. Here are some examples:

*In USA: there are 5 well and alive former presidents; Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, George Bush Sr. and Bill Clinton.

*In Great Britain: Margaret Thatcher, John Major…Etc.

*In Israel: Shimon Perez, Binyamin Netanyahu, Ehod Barak….. Etc.

Now, you can do your homework about Canada, Australia, west European countries and now eastern European countries after the fall of communism. Notice that all these democracies are based on the Judeo-Christian beliefs.

Those who are opposing the regime change in Iraq will be the first to suffer. If Saddam took control of Middle East oil and its price goes so high, regular people wouldn’t be able to afford it. If this happened, they would be the first to go out demonstrating against their governments blaming them for not taking action. Also, if you think that France, Germany and Russia are opposing the war itself for the sake of people’s safety, you are mistaken. They are against the war so as to protect their economic interests in Iraq; just search for information concerning their multi-billion dollar contracts with the Iraqi government.

I’m from the Middle East, and I can assure you that the Iraqi people will go out dancing and rejoicing in the street once they hear that Saddam and his regime are removed from power. Also, the suffering of the Cuban people would have been prevented, if its dictator Castro was removed from power a long time ago.

DID USA SUPPORT SADDAM AND BIN LADEN?

Yes, it supported them to fight against more dangerous ideologies; the Islamic revolution in Iran (Khomeini) and the communist Soviet Union at that time in Afghanistan. Does that mean that the USA’s policy was wrong? I guess not.

As we human beings learn from our mistakes and experiences, so do governments. USA had to choose between two evils: Saddam or Khomeini; a Communist regime in Afghanistan or Bin Laden and his mujahadeen. Who knows what would have happened if the USA had kept silent or assisted the other side? However, I believe that we would have the same result anyway, which is the rise of Islamic terrorism.

Also if this question came to your mind; why does the West support some dictatorial regimes in the Middle East? The answer again is: there is no democracy under Islam and that is what you get when you are to choose between 2 evils; a secular dictatorial regime or a radical Islamic terrorist one. Saudi Arabia for example is ruled by a family that is only using the cover of Islam, Bin laden and his followers are the true believers of Islam who will rule it if the Royal family lost the Westerners support. Afghanistan under Taliban was a true example of Islamic type of state.

And if you think that Turkey is a democratic Muslim country, you are again mistaken. Modern Turkey is a secular country that was established by a wise leader Kamal Ataturk who rejected Islam after the fall of Ottoman Empire, he put the country under a strict secular military force that is ready to seize power if any danger of Islamic control arises.
